I'm tired of drawing people, how about some high tech trinkets? One of the staples of science fiction has long been the universal translator, or babelfish, as Douglas Adams would call it.
Seems easy enough I suppose, but it's usually a hidden technology in Star Trek, so I took it upon myself to figure out what a prototype would look like.

Also, it makes a great egg timer! |
Well done and thanks for the laugh this morning!
ReplyDeleteHaha it's a great picture :)
ReplyDeleteI love the labelmaker tags on the high tech device. Classic.
ReplyDeleteI love it - so glad you got the two most important languages in the world in their own sections. hahaha
ReplyDeleteThat would certainly come in handy at the next Star Trek convention I go to, which would also be the first one I go to.
ReplyDeleteWhy haven't they come up with a real language translator yet. Maybe there's already an app for iPhones?
ReplyDeleteLove the babblefish idea in the Hitchhikers series.

ReplyDeleteI bet most of that hour was devoted to carving the switch out of a bar of soap?
ReplyDeleteLOVE that there are only three categories. Does that mean "everything else" is simply not as important as Klingon?
ReplyDeleteI love the simple design. Seems like it would make things much easier when trying to operate it.

That's pretty awesome. I wish I'd had that for my K post!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. Very clever. How about one for common sense?
ReplyDeleteThe universal translator was a brilliant idea. It was either that or expect that people would believe English is the universal language as some scifi shows still like us to believe.
ReplyDeleteheeheehee! very cute! and of COURSE it took that much time. lots of shading and realism there, man!
ReplyDeleteMy son will love this one. We swore he spoke Klingon as a child. He also acts like Spock now, so this is perfect for him. :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO! I need one. I love that labels look exactly like they came off an old label maker.
