Attention Visitors From Beyond

Follow the arrow to Earth

Haven't posted anything space-y in a while. This is Titan, apparently after a giant with a can of spray paint ruined the thing. It'll take weeks to get all that scrubbed clean.

Happy day people.

Titan is a fascinating moon. There are oceans of methane on it and raindrops of methane that fall from the clouds in slow motion.

Michael - It is fascinating, I don't know if you've ever read it, or even heard of it, but Stephen Baxter's Titan is one of my favorite Hard Scifi books. It was written in the mid nineties and is eerily prophetic in it's description of the breakup of the Columbia upon reentry to earth and of the demise of the manned space program at NASA. It is the tale of a desperation attempt at going to Titan by NASA... it's awesome, and it's like a travelogue for the moon.

Also, Ben Bova's novel of the same name isn't bad either, it's newer, and is also has more detail on the surface of the moon than you'd ever get otherwise.

Alex - Yes, clean up will be problematic.

Brian, Crystal, Eagle - it is awesome, isn't it?

A whole planetary mass of liquified cow farts. What's not to love?

Have you read any Gregory Benford?
