When I was in high school, my Friday’s were a time to socialize, from around the time I was 14 until I was about 24, I tried to be out every single Friday night. I figured that folks who chose to stay at home were to be pitied. Funny how things change. Now I get tired by 8:30 and am usually looking for a hard drink, not so I can party, but so I can go to sleep. Since I’ll be up at the crack of dawn no matter when I get to bed, I’d rather feel rested when I got up.
Yep, not so cool now, am I?
So, I dedicate this Friday night blog post to those of us who have dared to hang out on the weekend and not do anything. Borders has been liquidating for weeks now and have just decided to give us 25% off of their inventory. Wow, only 15% worse than how I could do shopping at Amazon. I spent nearly $30 for tickets for two to see a movie a few weeks ago. Buying alcohol at a bar is way too expensive now days. Nope, the only sane thing to do is stay home and either write, sleep, see what’s on Netflix, or maybe, just maybe, go out to eat.
So, sit right there and enjoy the movie…
So, sit right there, take your shoes off for the next half an hour or so, and enjoy the movie…

Sorry, don't have thirty minutes to spare - I'm rocking out on a Friday night!
Yeah, right.
Totally understand. Crap, I am wiped out by Friday. We do go out to the movies (early show - cheaper and less crowded) and then stop somewhere for take out, but that's about the extent of our adventures. Right now, a little Internet, check what's on TV, then crash...
Can't imagine why your teenaged son doesn't think you're cool...
I hardly ever went out on Fridays until a couple years ago when the apartment I was living in at the time had annoying neighbors who would crank up their music every Friday and Saturday like clockwork.
Of course tonight I'm staying in because I forgot my netbook at home.
Everyone knows that all the cool kids are chillin at home on Friday nights. :-)

I can no longer party like a rock star--the recovery time is way too long. Free time is such a valuable commodity anymore that I can't imagine wasting it with a heinous hangover like I did back in the day. However, about once a year I forget this mantra and try it anyway. And then I remember why I stay at home and watch bad TV on Friday nights.
Friday is laundry night and has been since I had my first child. If this is a trend and all the adults are home on Friday night, why isn't there anything good on TV ever? How many wedding dress shows can I endure??
I too get tired on Friday nights. I get a good dinner (take-out from a local place) sit in front of the p.c. and catch up on t.v.
Alex - Wow. It's Sunday already, what happened? Anyway, I can't figure out why he thinks I'm not cool either. When we're together I'm like, c'mon dude, gag me with a spoon and stuff. You know, saying stupid stuff is a real bonding thing with them.
Rogue - I lived either in a condo or apartment for the decade previous to buying my house. I could hear neighbors doing everything, it was quite annoying.
Gina - you said it.
Julie - for me it's about once every 3 or 4 months, but yes, I too seem to forget those hard learning lessons.
Tonja - I generally sit down to write every Friday, then fall asleep.
Michael - I find having a routine like that is actually pretty fun, at least for me. I do feel pretty crappy for going to sleep so early every Friday.
This sounds like a normal day for me...except Fridays...that's still my fun day. Will check out your video when I can. :)
