F is for Frankenstein's Monster

A-Z Challenge day 6! Read all about it.

*Edit* Thanks to the point brought up in the comments below by Charles the Reader, I've changed the title and references from 'Frankenstein' to 'Frankenstein's Monster.' In the interest of accuracy of course.

Why did I choose Frankenstein's monster? I have no idea. I wanted to do a big, detailed look at the Korloff face and do it, all in color and stuff, then I remembered I had a whole month of sketches to do and whipped up this Archie comics version instead.

My Frankenstein's monster looks more energetic I think. More cheery.

Very jaunty.

Who is he trying to grab?

I think he looks more like lurch from the "Adams Family", he still looks pretty nifty, all the same!

Does anyone else think it is interesting how, while Frankenstein was actually the scientist, now his monster is referred to as Frankenstein?

Charles the Reader's comment has boggled my mind. Wait a minute....that IS weird.

RE: the "Frankenstein's Monster" vs. "Frankenstein noncontroversy:

I settled it, here:

http://www.troublewithroy.com/2009/02/best-undead-creature.html

In short:

"If there were a list of people I find annoying, in order it would be:

1. Diablo Cody.
2. People who claim (truthfully or not) they don't watch TV.
3. People who remind you that Frankenstein was the doctor, not the monster.
4. Tina Fey/The guy whose house I'm stalking who now pulls down his blinds so that when I drive by I can't see inside the house (Tie.)"

You're a great artist, Rusty. I wish I could draw.

He could be fun at a party - he still has the somber eyes brows, though.

Charles is right, of course, but it does sound clunkier.

Frankenstein is a great subject.

i could just see him breaking out into the thriller dance! that would be SO FREAKIN'AWESOME!
i wanted to draw frankenstein's creation as well- but i forgot... and ran out of time.
have you ever read the book?
i couldn't make it through the whole thing--- ssssoooo preachy!
i'm like, yeah shelley, i get the point! onward with the tale.
but i think the true MONSTER was the scientist, and so he deserves to lose the name which holds his humanity to his creation who was more human than he.
i really love this sketch.
but i'm getting super jealous of your abilities! :)

Whenever I think of Frankenstein's monster, I think of the Scooby Doo one. You know, with the shaggy 70s hair.

You did a great job, though. Wow.

Don't know about Archie, but I definitely think he'd cross paths with Scooby and the gang. I love him!

He's a styling looking Frankenstein. Nice. Veronica would probably be all over him.

I was doing some Frankenstein research recently, and I did note that "Frankenstein" is now an accepted term for the monster, too. Critically speaking, that is. The monster being called Frankenstein was something that happened fairly early on, so it's been an accepted moniker for nearly 100 years, at this point.

I think he's enjoying this new-fangled thing he's learned called walking.

My son is old enough for some of the classic monster and B-movies. He loved King Kong! Frankenstein is on the shortlist.
