How Many Aliens Are There?

I've been waiting for this for years.... I can finally plug numbers into the Drake Equation and get some meaningful answers about whether or not Aliens are visiting earth.

My best guess, there are 34 technological Alien species currently active in the Milky Way galaxy. How many do you come up with?

Well, according to what I've written, there are at least eleven more than us...
It's the simple things, isn't it?

This is so cool! I don't agree with all parts of the equation, but it's tremendous fun anyway, which you can see by the fact that I got 365 technologically advanced civilizations in the Milky Way! :D Yay! So many new friends...

Very cool - fun little app to play with, but I'm guessing I'm a bit more optimistic since my numbers were just a *tad* higher. :)

Hmm... I suspect there are 42.

I got 4000, but I was being generous on a couple of the points, because we don't have any data on those things even based on ourselves, like how long will a civilization send communications out into space. We're only hitting the 100 year mark, right now.

I'll look for some tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed.

There are 306 aliens in Doctor Who. That sounds about right.

I got 1,512 communicating civilizations in the galaxy the first time. That number seemed rather bloated to me, so I adjusted some percentages and ended up at 38. Huh. Pretty big range of numbers.
