Sigh Time

LOTS OF STUFF on the plate for this week so I may be scarce around the interwebs.

I DID FIND this amazing youtube channel with all these concept painting tutorials... it's one of the greatest things I've ever stumbled across. I watched a ton of them.

THERE WAS A NEW review for A Dead God's Wrath over the weekend. It's funny, as I've done no promotion whatsoever and despite all that almost no one has read it. Wait, that's not very funny, is it?

Still, the review was somewhat mixed, they commented that the plot was predictable and my prose was tedious  - while still being riddled with errors. But I really, really appreciate the review as it was. It was someone that wasn't worried about hurting my feelings and wasn't being mean spirited - they just found the story less than exceptional. They pointed out why they didn't think the story worked and I really appreciate them taking the time to read and be honest. I hope the next story I release will be better.

And I do plan on putting something else out within the month. I hope that this story is more compelling than the last. I'll post more about that soon though.

Also, someone on Goodreads rated A Dead God's Wrath over the weekend as well, except they didn't give it a review.

It was one of those dreaded one-star ratings everyone dreads. Sigh. I suppose I'd rather not read what they had to say about it. At least so far they haven't put that rating up anywhere else besides Goodreads, so I appreciate them not flaunting their dislike publicly.

ANDREW LEON has made the second installment of his serialized novel available today. You can get it for free if you hurry up. It's an Amazon exclusive. Hurry up and get it by clicking.... HERE

FINALLY, MY FANTASY FOOTBALL draft was this weekend. It's pretty sad when halfway through the second round of the draft I realized I'd made a horrible mistake and my season is ruined. But I'll enjoy being the underdog in almost every game.

I'll get 'em next year.

Happy Monday people.

Most one-stars come from people who didn't even read your book, especially if there isn't a review with it. No worries. I still thought the story was awesome.
And we haven't done our draft yet. Hope it goes better than last year!

Happy Monday to you! Cpongrats on a meaningful review on Amazon. I did a post one time on the guy who made those concept art vids. :) They are great. My son took a graphics class where the instructor used those as the lessons.

Cool video - forwarded it to my daughter.

I agree, it's good you got a meaningful review. And I would ignore the one star. Definitely don't let it get you down. You're clearly a great writer.

Those drive-by one or two star ratings are so annoying. Jerks.

I wouldn't worry about your fantasy team. Whoever took the "best" players will probably see those players hurt in Week 1 and then you'll seem like a genius for not picking them.

If someone's going to give 1 star, it should really include a review. I feel the same for 5 stars. Tell us WHY!!!

That video was really cool. I'm thinking the artist is Chinese. I can hear the accent in there.

I'm in 3 leagues myself - one for money. It's a keeper league, so I hope Peyton Manning makes it worth my while for keeping all last year!

My draft is coming up shortly. I'm confused on quarterbacks. I had Aaron Rogers, but don't think I'll be getting him this season. We have a Packer fan in the mix and he's drafting higher than me.

Good news about the review. I love the truly honest ones.

I don't even know who any of the current players are to be able to draft them... if, you know, I was even doing that, which I'm not. Probably because I don't watch sports.

I do love it when Fantasy football finally comes back around. So sorry to hear about the drafting problem you had - maybe it'll still work out?!

I think there are a couple of folks on Goodreads who just go around giving low marks to everybody.

I don't think your prose is tedious at all. I think you're quite interesting.

Someday I'll have to check out fantasy football. Maybe.

Sorry about the review, and the one star, but every story you put out gets better. Keep your chin up Rusty; you do have great stories in you.

....dhole

One star trolls are terrible. Sorry you got hit by that. It's like a drive-by shooting.

Dear Rusty,

I think you're blog is pretty funny. Just wanted to tell you that.

And one-star reviews suck, but it's cool that you'd be so grateful that someone read your book and rated it in an unsolicited fashion. I got a one-star review on Amazon and they even said how much they hated it and thought it sucked and didn't give a crap for the characters and they saw this thing they considered a GLARING flaw, even though it's pretty much addressed in the book. Maybe they didn't get to that part? This reader stopped reading really fast, like almost immediately, apparently.

Anyway, it hurts but honestly, even writers you consider to be Gods get bad reviews from average people. Consider one of my favorite books, Ender's Game. Loads of people absolutely hate it and rip it to shreds on Amazon. I guess there's hype surrounding the book and it doesn't meet up. Good thing I read it when I was twelve or something before the Internet existed.

Anyway, I read your blog but I'm a lurker. This post made me come out of my shell. Your next book will be even better. Keep writing.

Nicole
